JOB DESCRIPTION

TITLE:           Home Instructor

QUALIFICATIONS:

1. Hold a valid New Jersey instructional certificate with appropriate endorsement(s) in accordance with the requirements of New Jersey statutes and regulations.
2. A bachelor’s degree or higher; exceptions to be determined based on New Jersey statues and regulations.
3. Demonstrate knowledge and understanding of child growth and development, instructional content, effective instructional strategies, classroom management, learning assessment and diagnosis, and research related to learning.
4. Demonstrate a strong commitment to providing every student with a supportive and structured learning environment, based around high expectations for student learning and success.
5. Required criminal history background check and proof of U.S. citizenship or legal resident alien status.

REPORTS TO:           Principal, Assistant Principal, Assistant Superintendent, Supervisor

PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES:

1. Ten hours per week Monday through Friday during non-contractual time from 3:45 pm to 8:00 pm
2. Shall provide instructional services to an enrolled student, whether a general education student in Kindergarten through 12th Grade or a Special Education student aged 6 to 61 when the student is confined to the home or another out-of-school setting due to a temporary or chronic health condition or a need for treatment that precludes participation in their usual education setting; whether general education or special education in accordance with 6A:1610.1.
3. Communicate with the teacher(s) of record(s) of their corresponding course.
4. Submit grade and feedback directly to the teacher(s) of record(s) of their corresponding course.
5. Provide academic support in a variety of subject areas.
6. Support the district's curriculum and IEP goals.

TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT:

1. Terms and salary as established by the collective bargaining agreement.
2. Conditions established by laws and codes of New Jersey; and policies, rules, and regulations established by the Passaic Board of Education.
3. Home instruction will be conducted in person unless the district approves otherwise.
4. Non-Tenurable.
